The Ba Dinh district in the north of Hanoi is one of the most beautiful in the city. With its green spaces and tourist monuments, it is both welcoming and lively. It’s a district that will give you a great introduction to the best that Hanoi has to offer.

Ba Dinh is one of the best areas to stay in Hanoi on your first visit. It is very popular with tourists without being completely crowded. This allows it to be dynamic while retaining an authentic atmosphere. You’ll discover top attractions such as the Hô Chi Minh Museum and the Imperial Citadel.
Hoan Kiem district (Old Quarter)
This is a historic and central district of Hanoi. It’s right next to Ba Dinh district but much more lively than with bars, shops and restaurants are very busy, giving you the chance to make all kinds of discoveries.

Hoan Kiem is also home to some of Hanoi’s best attractions. It is home to historic monuments such as St Joseph’s Cathedral, which dates back to the French era. You’ll also find the Hoa Lo museum and the Ngoc Son temple.

All these assets make Hoan Kiem a must-see district of Hanoi from a tourist point of view. It is also popular for the accommodation it offers. Hotel rooms are generally quite affordable. What’s more, the district is in a good geographical location for doing all your sightseeing and discovering all the rest of the city.
Tay Ho district
Tay Ho is a residential district near the lake of the same name in Hanoi. It is one of the most cosmopolitan districts in the capital of Viet Nam. It is home to a large number of foreigners and is a favourite district for expatriates.
Tay Ho is ideal for a family holiday, or for sleeping in Hanoi in a comfortable hotel. This is the area to find the most luxurious hotels, but if you get there early, you could find some very good accommodation at more affordable prices.
Hai Ba Trung district
Right next to the historic Hoan Kiem district, the Hai Ba Trung district is also one of the best places to stay in Hanoi. Its proximity to the old town means that it’s easy to get to the various tourist sites. But the district has other assets of its own that make it an interesting place to stay in Hanoi.
Here you’ll find the Thong Nhat urban park with its Bay Mau lake, where you can spend some quiet time. But if you want to feel the hustle and bustle of the city, you’ll also find plenty of shopping streets with Vietnamese restaurants, bars and traditional shops.
