Edinburgh’s New Year’s Eve party Edinburgh’s Hogmanay is back! Hogmanay is the Scottish word for New Year’s Eve, and Edinburgh’s Hogmanay celebrations were originally held in 1993, with hundreds of thousands of people attending each year. This year it runs from 29th December to 1st January, with a New Year’s Eve street party on the night of the 31st, when Princes Street and Edinburgh Castle will be filled with a huge street party, live music and the much-anticipated fireworks display.

The best places to watch the fireworks display are Calton Hill and Waterloo Place, while further afield attractions include Lothian Road bridge, Bruntsfield Place, Salisbury Crags and Inverleith Park.
